UPDATE: 10:00 am: The lockdown has been lifted.
Roanoke County School officials said the lockdown was lifted at Arnold R. Burton Technology Center around 9:45 a.m. after there was a report of a sound that was similar to gunfire.
Chuck Lionberger said it was determined that there was no danger at the school.
During the lockdown, Lionberger said Salem police evacuated a portion of the students to the Salem Civic Center, following their protocols, but those students have returned to the Technology Center.

Salem police are responding to the Arnold Burton center for a possible disturbance behind the school, according to a city spokesperson.
There have been reports of a gunshot near the school. Students were evacuated and accounted for. They have been let back into the school. The school is on lockdown. The city is asking that parents do not come down to the school.
