Katy Perry Reportedly Wants Her Deposition In Kesha/Dr. Luke Lawsuit Sealed

Katy Perry wants to make sure that nothing that she said in her deposition in the long-running Kesha and Dr. Luke lawsuit surfaces, as per a recent report from Page Six.

On Monday (August 20), Perry's lawyer requested that a Manhattan Supreme Court judge keep Perry’s deposition sealed in order to protect her reputation. In case you don't remember, Perry was publically dragged into the legal battle after court documents revealed that Kesha sent a text message to Lady Gaga accusing the super-producer of raping Perry. That milestone in the case led to Perry being subpoenaed and the eventual testimonial.

"The sealing of Ms. Hudson's deposition testimony is particularly appropriate because disclosure — in light of her public profile — obviously could unfairly affect and even cause 'significant harm' to her 'career and reputation,'" Perry's lawyer, Hal Shaftel, argued in court papers. "Because of her high-profile status as an artist, advocate and role model, Ms. Hudson is vulnerable to 'gossip column' frenzy aimed at exaggerating salacious matters having little to nothing to do with the merits — whatever they may be — of the substantive, material issues in this case."

Vulture reported that the request for the sealed deposition arrived after Perry learned that a judge was potentially planning to release a transcript of the deposition on Tuesday (August 21). We'll hear more about the case on August 27 when the judge in charge makes remarks on the docs.
