When I was growing up Disney movies were making their big comeback. Movies like "The Little Mermaid", "Aladdin", "The Lion King", and "Beauty and the Beast" were some of the biggest animated moves of all time.
How do you keep that success going with this huge movies once they've left the theater and most people have already bought them to watch at home? You don an animated series!
Most of these big Disney movies from the late 80s and 90s ended up with their own animated series to continue their adventures. Aladdin was one of them.
Once Disney Plus launched in November of 2019 I thought we could dig and find some of these gems. While you can watch the Littler Mermaid's animated series and the Hercules animated series Aladdin is not there. If you do a search on Disney Plus all three Aladdin animated movies appear along with the 2019 live action version, but the animated series is not there,
Why?
I've looked all over the place for answers but no one seems to know. Short of going right to Disney and asking them, I've looked on the entire internet. Reddit seemed to have some theories on this. One being that the pop culture references made by the Genie on the show are making it difficult for them to gain streaming rights. Another is that they simply have not added it to the lineup yet.
Hopefully one day soon we'll be able to watch the continuing adventures of Aladdin and Jasmine, but it is unfortunately not this day.
