Jimmy Kimmel shared news of his 7-year-old son Billy's health on the set of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire on Monday (July 8) following the child's third open-heart surgery that took place in May. According to Entertainment Tonight, Kimmel had nothing but positive things to report about the child's recovery process thus far.

"Billy's doing great. He had open-heart surgery; you know he's got the scars and everything, but he's just mentally right back where he was which is crazy. Physically, you know, we're gonna have to be careful with him for a couple of months but he's doing really well." The iconic talk show host continued, commenting on the resilience of children and their ability to overcome health issues as they grow.

"They're made of rubber, you know, everybody says that kids are so resilient and the doctors actually explained it to me which I don't know why it never occurred to me before because they're still growing."

Billy has been through a lot despite his age. Kimmel detailed his son's health complications during a Jimmy Kimmel Live! monologue in 2017 where he noted that the child's first surgery took place when he was a mere 3-days-old.

"Basically, the pulmonary valve was completely blocked and he has a hole in the wall between the left and right sides of his heart."

Billy will continue to heal at home in the coming months; a process fueled by the love and support of family members.
