Are Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin officially broken up?
That seems to be the question on everyone's mind after multiple sources told People that the couple, together since 2017, have recently called it quits.
"It feels final this time," an insider told the outlet on Wednesday (June 4).
The Coldplay frontman and Fifty Shades of Grey actress are very private about their relationship and have been the subject of recurring breakup rumors over the last eight years.
Hearsay of a possible split surfaced in August 2024 but was quickly dispelled after a rep for Johnson revealed "they are happily together" and "they’ve had ups and downs, but now they’re definitely back on." Despite breakup buzz, the source assured Johnson and Martin were going strong, and in December, Martin himself cited love as being "powerful" even if kept private.
Earlier this year, the alleged former pair were seen holding hands and romantically strolling through India during Coldplay's world tour. In March, a source told People the entertainment icons had secretly been engaged for years (sparking engagement rumors as far back as 2020) but were in no rush to tie the knot.
Johnson and Martin have yet to publicly comment on their supposed split.
