Freya Skye Turns Relatable Honesty Into Pop Stardom With 'silent treatment'

Breakout star Freya Skye has quickly become one of pop's most exciting young voices, adored for her relatability as much as her talent. At just 16 years old, Freya experienced a massive surge in 2025, amassing over 1.5 billion streams, gaining millions of new followers worldwide, and cementing herself as a true next-generation star. Now, she's been named iHeartRadio's newest On The Verge Artist.

Growing up in Southampton, United Kingdom, music was always part of Freya’s world. Her journey took a major turn in 2022 when she was selected to represent the UK in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, an opportunity that ultimately led to her being discovered by Disney and signing with Hollywood Records. From there, her rise only accelerated.

Many fans first recognized Freya from her standout role as Nova Bright in Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires, which quickly became a fan-favorite installment in Disney’s Zombies franchise. Around the same time, she began introducing herself as a solo artist, releasing a string of heartfelt singles including “Walk Over,” “Someone To Love,” “Can’t Fake It,” and “Gold’s Gone.”

Her breakout moment arrived with “silent treatment,” her first #1 most added and Top 40 hit, which instantly went viral among her devoted fanbase — lovingly known as "Freya's Fam." The song’s emotional honesty and raw storytelling struck a chord, solidifying Freya as an artist unafraid to write straight from the heart.

Freya told iHeartRadio of the inspiration behind her hit track, "The inspiration behind 'silent treatment' came from a real life situation I was going through. I literally had been ghosted by someone who I cared so much about, and I think I went into the studio that day just very confused and upset and angry and that's how 'silent treatment' came to be."

That connection translates powerfully to the stage. Freya sold out her first four headline acoustic shows in New York, Los Angeles, and London, became a standout during the 2025 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour, and watched tickets for her February 2026 U.S. headline tour disappear in seconds. Already a seasoned performer, she also toured arenas as part of the "Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour" last summer.

There's more to come from Freya this year, and she describes herself as "a girl who writes songs with heavy pop influence, with the hopes to kind of write songs that people can laugh to, cry to, dance to, all in the same sentence."

With unstoppable momentum and a growing catalog of deeply personal songs, Freya Skye is proving that authenticity, talent, and heart can take you anywhere — and she’s only just getting started.
