Paris Hilton and Britney Spears bonded over the "shared trauma" they experienced in the early 2000s.

The "Stars Are Blind" musician appeared on Thursday's (January 29) episode of the I've Never Said This Before podcast where she shared with host Tommy DiDario how she and Spears have made their friendship last decades, noting how they each were met with "cruel" comments when they were younger, per People.

"I was just with Britney a few weeks ago for her birthday in Mexico and we were just talking about how cruel and mean-spirited people were back then," Hilton said. "And she is someone that can relate to that. Very few people can. It has made us both so strong."

The I Am Paris podcast host explained that "it was entertainment to tear down women" in the early aughts, leading to a very "isolating" feeling that she and many other famous women faced at the time. However, she used her own past pain to inspire others when offering advice to her younger self.

"If I were to go back and speak to my younger self, I would say, 'Paris, you're going to go through a lot in life and sometimes it's going to be so difficult and scary and hard but one day it's going to be worth it," she said, adding, "Because you're going to inspire millions of people, you're going to create a blueprint and turn your pain into your purpose and help save the lives of children, women and survivors all around the world."

Hilton's comments come after a recent conversation with Jay Shetty on his On Purpose podcast where she opened up about "taking back [her] power" with music amid her healing journey.

"Since I was a little girl, I've always loved music, and then releasing my first album in the 2000s. I just feel like I was just so underestimated back then, and now I really feel like I'm taking back my power and my voice and showing people a side of me they'd never seen before."
