D4vd's family is actively challenging a court order requiring them to testify before a grand jury.

According to a report TMZ published on Thursday, February 12, the singer's mother, father, and brother were summoned to appear in front of a grand jury in California to testify as witnesses. Colleen, Dawud, and Caleb Burke alleged they were denied due process because they had only received redacted versions of the affidavits used to issue the summons from a lower court in Texas, where they're all based. The Texas natives assert that they had no idea why they were being summoned as witnesses.

A grand jury has been in session since November in the Celeste Rivas Hernandez murder case. Over the past several months, people from D4vd's inner circle, including his touring manager Robert Morgenroth and close friend Neo Langston, have already appeared to testify. At one point, Langston was taken into custody and forced to testify after he initially attempted to dodge the court order.

D4vd may be indicted for the murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Hernandez was discovered inside a Tesla registered to the singer in Los Angeles back in September. The vehicle was impounded at a lot in Hollywood after neighbors in Hollywood Hills reported it as abandoned. After smelling a foul odor, authorities were called and a forensic team later confirmed that the remains belonged to the 15-year-old girl, who had been reported missing in 2024. Police have been investigating D4vd's ties to the victim and the home he reportedly lived in before she died.

D4vd's family filed an appeal for the summons, and they are currently awaiting a response from the judge overseeing the case. As of this report, the singer himself has yet to comment on the situation.
