Kristin Cavallari wanted to fully feel the pain of her divorce from Jay Cutler.

The Laguna Beach alum made rare comments on her split from the former NFL player on Tuesday's (February 17) episode of her Let's Be Honest podcast, per Page Six. The former couple tied the knot in 2013 but announced their separation in 2020 and finalized their divorce two years later. They share three kids: Camden, 13, Jaxon, 11, and Saylor, 10.

Cavallari revealed that the end of her marriage was a transformative experience because it allowed her to not only embrace the positives in life but to "love the hard times too," adding, "There is beauty in pain and we need the dark to appreciate the light."

"For so many years, as long as I could remember, I didn't wanna feel anything," she said. "I wanted to push everything away. I was like, 'I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine. I'm the tough girl.'"

Despite her assurances, however, admitted that she "didn't know how to ask for help [and] couldn't be vulnerable." When she split from Cutler, she knew she wanted to "feel it all" and not run away from her emotions, a move she said helped her to grow as a person.

"I wanna experience it all. The good, the bad, the ugly, I wanna feel the pain. I wanna sit in it. I don't wanna rush or run from it," she said, adding, "Thank God I did, because that was where the majority of my growth and life came from. The pain, and the hurt, and the suffering is there to teach us something — that's where we learn and we grow."

She continued, "That's how you get to the other side, where it's even more beautiful."

Since her split from Cutler, Cavallari has dived back into the dating pool and even opened up about some of her celebrity crushes. However, there is one type of man she has sworn off for future prospects.
