Bowen Yang missed out on attending the 2026 Actor Awards but he had a very valid â and unbelievable yet true â excuse. It turns out he was "casually stuck" in one of the most isolated places on earth.
The Las Culturistas podcast host was one of many celebrities scheduled to present at the 32nd Actor Awards, formerly the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, on Sunday (March 1) in Los Angeles, but unfortunately couldn't make it in person due to being in Antarctica, per People.
Agatha All Along star Kathryn Hahn and Heated Rivalry actor Connor Storrie shared the news near the start of the show as the first pair of presenters, with Hahn confessing that she was brought in to present in Yang's place to introduce the nominees for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, which went to The Diplomat's Keri Russell.
"First of all, I wasn't even supposed to be presenting this award," she said. "Right now, I am Bowen Yang. Because he is casually stuck in Antarctica."
To further demonstrate the point, Storrie directed the audience to a selfie of Yang bundled up in a coat and standing in front of a misty white backdrop that appeared on screen as Hahn noted, "Yeah, no, that's for real."
While the reason for his absence may sound exaggerated, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed it to be true, with Yang previously posting about the trip on social media and discussing it on Las Culturistas with his co-host Matt Rogers.
