Ed Sheeran is looking back at the reaction to his controversial Game of Thrones cameo.

The "Azizam" singer joined Benny Blanco and Lil Dicky on the March 10 episode of their new Friends Keep Secrets podcast where reflected on his time on the hit HBO series. Sheeran played Lannister soldier who sang a tune in the season seven premiere; however, some viewers were not too enthused to see Sheeran on screen, per Billboard.

"I feel like I definitely ruffled some feathers being on Game of Thrones," he said.

Lil Dicky hit back, disputing the idea that his appearance on the show was a disruption for viewers given his level of fame and stating that Sheeran had the "right vibe" for the moment.

The English singer-songwriter was far from the only musician to find himself in Westeros, with artists like country star Chris Stapleton, Coldplay drummer Will Champion, Snow Patrol singer Gary Lightbody and more all appearing on screen throughout the series' eight-season run.

"What I said is, 'People love that show.' If anyone gets asked to be in that show, it's an instant yes," Sheeran said. "I said yes. I enjoyed doing it."

Sheeran offered an explanation for the backlash, admitting he was "everywhere" at the time as he had put out his third studio album Divide that year, featuring hits like "Shape of You" and "Perfect."

"I feel like that happens quite a lot in my career," he said. "I'll just get s--- on for things that ... a lot of it was in that Divide year. And I think it's 'cause I was omnipresent and just everywhere."

Elsewhere in the chat, Sheeran and Blanco shared why they represent for all of the "normal dudes" of the world.
