Anne Hathaway's relationship with her body image is ever evolving.
In a new interview with Harper's Bazaar, the Devil Wears Prada star, 43, got real about navigating insecurities over her body as she gets older, sharing how her confidence varies day by day. Because of this, she shared that she keeps two kinds of swimsuits on hand depending how bold and self-assured she is feeling. She described one as the suit "that's got you no matter what" and the other as an "aspirational swimsuit" to wear on a "good day," per People.
However, when she decided on a not-so-good day to wear the latter, something clicked.
"I'm ready to have this great day with my family. And I am going to be in front of strangers, and people have phones. And all of the things," she said. "But my family is waiting for me. And I looked and I just went, 'What?' And then I looked again and I said, 'You are 43.' And looking at a 43-year-old body, I was like, 'Nice.'"
The Princess Diaries actress explained how the switch in her self-confidence was a matter of shifting the perspective of how she looked at her figure, ultimately leaving her worries to the "big stuff" instead.
"When I was expecting to see something that I am not, I felt insecure. But when I actually looked at what it actually is, I was okay with it," she said, adding, "I think you realize that worry should be reserved for the really big stuff."
Hathaway is preparing to step back into her role as Andy in the Devil Wears Prada 2, a long-awaited sequel to the beloved 2006 film. She even made a playful nod to the role alongside former Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour at the 2026 Oscars.
