Lola Young is doing "better" six months after collapsing on stage at a music festival.
The "Messy" singer, 25, shared a brief update on her recovery journey in a new interview with The Times of London published Saturday (March 28). Young took a months-long hiatus to "work on myself" following a medical emergency in September 2025 when she collapsed mid-performance at the All Things Go Music Festival in New York City, per E! News.
"I would rather, for the sake of my privacy, not say too much," she said. "But what I would say is that recovery is an ongoing process. I'm not the finished article, but I'm doing a hell of a lot better."
Young, who made her return to the spotlight at the 2026 Grammys in February, also clarified that she has been in "drugs recovery" during her time away. According to Billboard, she has been vocal about her mental health struggles, addiction and cocaine dependency in the past.
"When you're in recovery... that doesn't necessarily need to mean drugs — but me specifically, yes," she said.
At the Grammys, where she performed her hit "Messy" in a medley of the Best New Artist nominees, Young took home her first Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance for the song. In the press room after her win, she opened up about how important it is to "protect your mental health in this industry."
She opened up about her addiction and struggles behind the scenes even further in a cover story interview with Rolling Stone earlier this month, detailing how she reached the "breaking point" of collapsing on stage due to her packed schedule and personal issues and how she ultimately made the choice to take time away to "get better."
"It was a decision, like I said, that I had to make, and it was sad that I had to do that," she said. "What else was I going to do, die? That was the reality of where my addiction was heading."
