Dakota Johnson is recalling the time she learned that it doesn't always pay to be nice.
In a recent radio interview, the Materialists star, 36, detailed the "pretty crazy" instance where she lost out on a job because the people in the audition room thought she was "full of myself," all because she was being polite, per People.
"I went into the room and I shook everyone's hand and introduced myself," she said of her callback for an unnamed project. "And then I did the scene and I left. And the feedback I got was that because I had gone and introduced myself and shook everyone's hand, that I was, like, pompous, that I was schmoozing and full of myself."
Johnson admitted she was taken aback by the unexpected response.
"I was like, what? I didn't get the job because they said that I was being cocky," she said, adding, "I just had manners."
The Madame Web actress isn't the only star to open up about auditions that didn't go as planned. During a November 2025 appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast, Brittany Snow revealed that she once "bombed" the initial audition — and then later "nailed" her second chance — for what would become one of her most iconic roles.
