Dax Shepard was anything but an expert when it came to dealing with the drama following wife Kristen Bell's controversial wedding anniversary post.
Nearly six months after the Instagram post sparked heated controversy, the Armchair Expert opened up about the ordeal on his podcast.
"I was alerted by someone that this whole thing was happening," the actor revealed to guest Nikki Glaser on the Monday (April 6) episode. "I didn't know, and Kristen knew through her publicist but didn't tell me. So, I actually didn't know, and this was brought to my attention.
Shepard admitted that he had "no clue," adding that the post had been live for a week and a half before someone alerted him to it.
The Frozen actress received backlash after sharing a wedding anniversary post last October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, alongside a controversial caption.
"Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who, after an episode of 'Dateline,' once said to me: 'I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I'm heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would."
Immediately, fans accused the actress of making light of domestic violence. While Bell has never openly spoken about the controversy, she's kept the post up on her Instagram account.
