Police are investigating claims that former Storage Wars star Darrell Sheets died by suicide at the age of 67 after being the victim of cyberbullying.

Sergeant Kyle Ridgway, public information officer for the Lake Havasu City Police Department in Arizona, told Page Six that the department was "aware of these cyberbullying accusations and that is a part of the active investigation" after claims made by co-star Rene Nezhoda. Bezhoda shared an instagram video claiming Sheets "had this guy, like, really, really tormenting him lately and cyberbullying" him prior to his death this week.

“Guys, just because you watch us on television doesn’t mean you know us,” Nezhoda said in the video. “It doesn’t mean you know what we’re about.”

“As a matter of fact, if you have somebody in your life that thinks it’s funny to cyberbully other people … slap them in the back of the head," he added. “Make them become a better human being, because you never know what demons somebody faces and what they go through and what you might push them through,” he continued, urging fans to “be better.”

Officers received a report of a deceased person at Sheets' home at around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday and he was pronounced dead at the scene, with his body transferred to the Mohave County Medical Examiner's Office.

“Upon arrival, officers located a male subject who suffered from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head,” the release states via PEOPLE. “The male was pronounced deceased on scene, and the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit was notified and responded to the scene to assume the investigation.

“The body was ultimately turned over to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office for further investigation. The male subject has been identified as Darrell Sheets, a 67-year-old resident of Lake Havasu City, and Darrell’s family has been notified.”

Sheets appeared on 163 episodes of the A&E series Storage Wars from 2010 to 2023 before retiring to Lake Havasu, having operated his own antique shop called Havasu Show Me Your Junk. The former television star had dealt with health issues, which included being hospitalized after suffering a heart attack and needing surgery in March 2019.
