Billie Eilish is opening up about how her style has been shaped by the "toxic relationship" she has with her body.

In a new interview with ELLE published Tuesday (April 28), Eilish, 24, explained that the baggy clothes she became known for wearing earlier in her career was influenced not just by artists she looked up to but by the struggles she faced with body image issues, per People.

"I had a really, really toxic relationship with my body," she said. "I had a lot of eating issues. I remember putting on, like, a big shirt and the relief that I felt. At the same time, it was my love for hip-hop culture and wanting to be a man."

The "Birds of a Feather" singer also explained how her fashion choices were shaped in part by internalized misogyny but that she has worked on overcoming that mindset.

"This is the misogyny that we all have within us... which is that I didn't want to be seen as feminine, and therefore weak," she said. "It's not right. I've found a good way of not feeling like that."

While Eilish became known for her oversized style, she acknowledged that she is "not the first person who's worn baggy clothes," pointing out some of her fashion inspirations as Missy Elliott, Tyler, the Creator and Harlem fashion influencer Bloody Osiris.

Elsewhere in the interview, the HIT ME HARD AND SOFT musician slammed rumors of a rift between herself and her brother/collaborator FINNEAS after he didn't join her on her latest tour.
