Blake Shelton took the stage in Las Vegas, Nevada, and addressed why he and his wife, Gwen Stefani, would not appear at one another’s shows.

Shelton was slated to return to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Wednesday night (May 6), the same night Stefani kicked off No Doubt’s highly-anticipated run of shows at the Sphere. In clips circulating on social media, Shelton jokingly said on stage: “My wife came to town. She’s here. I mean, she’s not here. She’s over there at the other venue. What kind of a d***head books us on the exact same nights every single night? I think my manager did that.”

Shelton kicked off the latest round of his own residency dates at The Colosseum, which continues on May 8, 9, 13, 15, 16, 21, 24, he announced earlier this year. The country superstar played a six-show residency in early 2025. He said in a statement that “we had so much fun earlier this year, I figured—why not do it again. This time we’re gonna do it more country, with more cocktails, and probably make a few more questionable decisions. Let’s go, Vegas.”

Shelton joked in a previous interview with PEOPLE, as he and Stefani prepared for their respective residencies, that it’ll “be interesting because I'll be in direct competition with my wife. I'm excited about that because I know there'll be probably a little bit of trash talking.”

The celebrity couple met when they were both coaching on The Voice in 2014. They publicly confirmed their relationship the following year, got engaged in 2020, and got married in 2021 on Shelton’s ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. The two artists have released several duets together over the years, including “Nobody But You,” “Happy Anywhere,” “Purple Irises” and more. Shelton said in a previous interview with Entertainment Tonight, “if I could have a repeat of these past 10 years [together, that] would be perfect.”
