Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet have been dating for three years and occasionally step out on the red carpet as a couple, but there is one place you may not see them together for a long while: the Met Gala.
A source recently told Page Six that the reason the Kylie cosmetics founder, 28, and the Dune star, 30, haven't walked the carpet during fashion's biggest night at any point in their relationship is because Jenner wants to avoid the "Met Gala curse," a supposed trend of famous couples splitting up shortly after making their debut at the annual event. And it seems her fears aren't completely unfounded as the insider likened her worries back to her previous Met Gala appearances with ex Travis Scott.
"Kylie and Timothée intentionally avoided attending the Met Gala together these past few years because they didn't want to risk the whole 'Met Gala curse' thing," the source said, adding, "Kylie was especially superstitious about it after going to the Met with Travis in 2018 and 2019 before they eventually split."
The insider added that Jenner "just didn't want that kind of luck attached to their relationship and wasn't willing to take any chances."
While Chalamet missed out the 2026 Met Gala, catching the New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden instead, his girlfriend looked nearly unrecognizable on the garden-themed red carpet with bleached eyebrows and sculptural Schiaparelli gown with a nude corseted bodice.
The A Complete Unknown actor and the Kardashians star have been linked since April 2023 and have kept their romance mostly private, not even making the red carpet debut until May 2025. However, Jenner supported her boyfriend throughout awards season earlier this year and he even shared the love back with sweet shoutouts while accepting awards at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globes.
