Gracie Abrams' new chapter is finally here.

On Thursday (May 14), the singer-songwriter, 26, shared the "introduction" to her new era with her latest single "Hit the Wall," the first glimpse of her upcoming third studio album Daughter from Hell, out this summer.

"I'm a crack in the pavement, I'm a slip knot/ I'm afraid that my fortress is a glass box/ I should know what I'm playin' but I forgot/ Felt good for a day, but that stopped," she sings, adding in the chorus, "I'm not a problem you can solve/ Weighing the cost, impossible/ I hit the wall."

In an interview with the Elvis Duran & The Morning Show on Friday, Abrams opened up about the inspiration behind he new track, explaining that it wasn't only about struggles within a relationship but the feeling of being at "the end of your rope" in general.

"The song isn't as much about a relationship as it is sort of about a certain degree of fatigue and white knuckling in general, which I think we're all sort of doing to get through these times," she said. "I think this song was a relief to write because it was, for me, about naming a lot of feelings that I had not wanted to look at very closely. So in that sense, there's some relationship business going down in there for sure but more big picture, I would say just about kind of getting to the end of your rope a bit."

"Hit the Wall" is the lead single from Abrams forthcoming album Daughter from Hell, which she announced May 11 was officially on the way and that she is "so ready" for fans to finally hear the record. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in January, she revealed that the project is "definitely my favorite music I've ever made" and that she feels "very closely connected to it."

Daughter from Hell drops July 17. You can listen to "Hit the Wall" now on iHeartRadio.
