Olivia Rodrigo is sharing her thoughts on the ongoing speculation of a possible rift with Taylor Swift.
In a May 28 appearance on The New York Times' Popcast podcast, the "drop dead" singer, 23, made a rare comment about the rumors swirling online that she is feuding with the Life of a Showgirl musician, 36, after she was seen leaving a Paul McCartney concert at the same time as Swift.
Rodrigo noted that while internet detectives diving into her every move seemingly come with her life in the spotlight, she prefers to ignore the chatter, per E! News.
"I don't really read that far into it," she said. "I think it comes with the territory, and it's par for the course."
The "Vampire" singer said that keeping up with all of the online theories regarding her life would be too time consuming, adding, "I think if I dove into every internet detective sleuth that got things right or wrong about my life or any of my relationships, I think I'd just go crazy."
Rodrigo is no stranger to fans speculating on her interpersonal relationships and whether there is drama behind the scenes, such as the rumors of an alleged feud with Sabrina Carpenter sparked by Rodrigo's debut single "Driver's License" in 2021. However, that experience helped her learn to "detach" from speculation online.
"I had to detach from it in order to literally be OK," she said. "It was just such a crazy experience for everyone involved. Yeah, I think I just had to learn to detach, and I think that's something that I'm hopefully good at these days, still trying to detach from people who don't know every little details of my life."
