Taylor Swift is diving back into her country roots for her new song.
On Friday (June 5), Swift released her new track "I Knew It, I Knew You," an original song featured in Disney and Pixar's upcoming animated film Toy Story 5, the latest installment in the beloved franchise. This marks her first new music since releasing her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl in October 2025.
In an Instagram post, Swift shared a throwback home video of herself as a child dressed as a cowgirl while reflecting on the full-circle moment of creating a song for a world she has loved since she was 5 years old, calling it both a departure from the music she has been releasing lately as well as a "coming home" of sorts.
"Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time," she wrote in the caption. "Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once. And being a [Toy Story] kid from the age of 5 til now... is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond."
She also expressed gratitude to director Andrew Stanton "for imagining me for this, all those years ago when you wrote this newest film" and thanked songwriter and composer Randy Newman for "the gorgeous sonic tapestry of songs and scores [he has] meticulously woven over the years."
The "Opalite" singer also credited Newman for creating the "Toy Story musical world" that she and Jack Antonoff, her frequent collaborator and friend, are lucky to live in and contribute to with their new track.
"We wrote this with so much adoration for these characters that made us laugh and helped us learn lessons and think outside the backyard all throughout our childhoods," she said.
Toy Story 5 hits theaters June 19. You can listen to "I Knew It, I Knew You" on iHeartRadio.
