A chance encounter on a night out with friends led not only to Niall Horan's latest album Dinner Party but a meaningful relationship with his girlfriend Amelia Woolley.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday (June 10), the "Slow Hands" singer shared how the meeting with his now-girlfriend inspired his new album, starting with the lead single "Dinner Party," per NBC News. The couple have been linked since 2020.

"I met my girlfriend at a dinner party — more a drinks party, to be honest with you," he said, joking that "there was food there" before explaining why he wanted to put pen to paper and commemorate the moment. "It felt compelling, the evening. So I was like, I need to write a 'say what you see when you think of that night' kind of song."

Horan shared more about the "really happy" moment when announcing the song earlier this year and how it was the foundation for the rest of the album.

"this song is about a really happy and big moment in my life. an evening at a simple dinner party that changed the course of my life," he said at the time. "after writing the song, the words 'dinner party' became the nucleus for the rest of the record. that once in a lifetime moment that i am grateful for and for everything that came after that night."
