Jennifer Lopez was taking back control amid major life changes.
The "On the Floor" singer joined Will Arnett, Sean Hayes and Jason Bateman on the June 15 episode of their SmartLess podcast where she reflected on how much her life has changed over the past few years. Lopez explained that "the past five years has been a tumult" while the last two years have been a time of healing and getting to know herself better, per People.
"The person I am today is so different than the person I was even two years ago, it's crazy," she said. "And now I can really look at my life, appreciate it for what it is and what I've created for myself and be really happy."
The Office Romance actress admitted that she has felt "like my life blew up in my own face" at certain points, taking her share of responsibility for the struggles while sharing how she has grown from the experiences.
"It was because of the choices I made, but also because of the fact that I had things that needed to change about myself that I didn't understand or recognize that was attracting certain things and attracting a certain type of experience into my life. So, I want to give myself that credit too, but there comes a point where it's all so puzzling and wrong where you have to sit there."
One such instance came amid her divorce from ex-husband Ben Affleck, who she filed for divorce from in August 2024 after two years of marriage. However, she gave herself a pep talk to encourage her to focus on what was best for her and her own life at the time.
"And after my last divorce, I just sat there and I was like, I canceled my tour and I sat there and was just like, 'You need to f---ing figure yourself out. What is going on with you? Forget about everybody else. There's nobody to blame here except yourself, in a certain way.'"
Lopez has been open about how happy she is being single, and recently shared an update on her "fantastic" single life.
