Olivia Wilde is crediting a former costar for stepping in to save her from a scary near-accident on set.

During a June 29 appearance on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast, the Booksmart director, 42, recalled the time she Walton Goggins "saved [her] life" while they were filming the 2011 sci-fi/wester movie Cowboys & Aliens, per People.

"Walt Goggins saved my life on that movie," she said. "I had a very bad horse accident, and he saved me. It was me and [costars] Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford galloping, like, full spring across the desert with 40 horses behind us. And it was like we were leading the charge to fight the aliens or whatever."

Wilde explained that she was bucked off the horse "in the craziest way" while jumping over a ditch and fell to the ground, hitting her head and back in the process and leaving her hidden from the oncoming horde or horses.

"Unfortunately, I was on the other side of this kind of lip of dirt, meaning that all horses behind couldn't see me. And there was also a lot of dirt," she said, adding, "I remember having my ear to the ground and I could hear it and it sounded like thunder, like they were coming towards me. And I had the thought — it sounds so dramatic — but I thought, [death will] be quick. It'll be like, pulverized applesauce. Out."

The House alum revealed that the White Lotus actor made a quick move to come to her rescue, calling him a "real-life hero" and adding, "I owe him my life."

"Walt Goggins had seen [me] ahead of him and in a split second thought to turn his horse sideways right in front of me and let everyone kind of bash into him," she said. "He's a great rider, so he was able to handle that. People split the two sides around us, thinking he had just gone insane, but he was protecting my body on the ground."

Another famous celebrities who have aided in saving someone's life include Amy Adams, who recently detailed helping a man who had been "stabbed in the neck," and Jimmy Kimmel, who saved his frenemy Matt Damon from choking during a dinner party.
