Some of modern baseball's top managers, including Dusty Baker, Bruce Bochy, and Lou Piniella, are up for election to the Hall of Fame. The Hall's contemporary era ballot for managers, executives, and umpires was announced on Monday and includes these longtime skippers, all of whom have World Series titles. According to ESPN, the vote will take place on December 6 at Major League Baseball's winter meetings in San Diego.

The ballot also features former managers Joe Maddon and executives Sandy Alderson, Brian Sabean, and the late Ted Turner. Former player, broadcaster, and National League President Bill White is also included. Candidates need 75% of the vote from a 16-member committee to be inducted. The results will be announced on December 6, and those elected will be inducted into the Hall next July 25, alongside players voted in by the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

Baker, 77, managed several teams, including the San Francisco Giants and Houston Astros, winning the 2022 World Series title. Bochy, 71, won four World Series titles, including three with the Giants. Piniella, 83, managed the Cincinnati Reds to a World Series win in 1990. CBS Sports notes that the ballot was selected by a historical overview committee, which includes veteran historians and journalists.

The Hall of Fame's contemporary baseball era committee evaluates candidates whose significant career impact occurred since 1980. This year, the ballot focuses on non-player contributions, with a separate ballot for players. The Hall restructured its veterans committees in 2022 to better address different eras of baseball history.
